Highlights of Albania 12 days round trip for individuals

Day 1: Arrival at Tirana Internationa Airport ”Mother Teresa” – Pogradec

Your throughout guide/driver will be waiting for you on the main gate of the arrivals at the custom.
Your adventure will start in Albania, the land of the eagles. Your first transfer will be to the beautiful city of Pogradec. After arrival, an orientation tour will follow before dinner with overnight

Day 2: Ohrid – St Naum – Tushemisht – Korce

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Ohrid (North Macedonia). In Ohrid you will have time for lunch and to meet with your local guide and continue the tour of the old town in Ohrid. There you will visit its ancient ruins such as the ancient theater, Samuil’s fortress, St. Sofia Cathedral and boat trip to feel better the peace that surrounds the city. After Ohrid, you will get transferred to Sveti Naum for a visit and to have dinner there. Lastly, you will be transferred to Korca for overnight.

Day 3: Korca – Voskopoja

This morning after breakfast you will start the sightseeing of the city. You will visit the old quarter with the cobbled streets and the orthodox cathedral. You will continue with the ABC museum & National Museum of Mediavel Art. After that you will get transferred to Kamenica. The Archaeological site in Kamenica includes a museum dedicated to the prehistory of Albania and of the surrounding region. You will have free time for lunch and then get transferred to Voskopoja. In Voskopoja you will get to visit many churches like St. Athanasius, St.Nicolas, etc. You will have dinner in Voskopoja and after that, you will get transferred to Korca for overnight.

Day 4: Permet – Gjirokaster

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Permet on the way to Gjirokaster that is the final destination of the day. The landscape is more than beautiful. You will have the opportunity for some photoshooting during driving between Korca and Gjirokastra including Permet. In Permet, you will have time for lunch and to explore the Heritage of Unesco, Gjirokastra. You will visit the amazing city with its traditional old houses and old quarters, old bazaar with craftsmen shops, etc. You will have dinner in Gjirokastra and also overnight.

Day 5: Gjirokaster – Butrint – Saranda

On this day you will visit the rest of the stone city of Gjirokastra (part of Unesco) and sleep in the pictoresque coastal town of Saranda. The daily adventure will start with the Castle “Argjiro” of Gjirokastra and after that, Museum of Weapons & Ethnographic Museum of Gjirokastra. You will get transferred to the Blue Eye spring and have lunch in Ksamil. After lunch, you will go to Butrint, one of the many ancient Greek colonies in the Illyrian coast. This was one of the most important and of the most developed colonies and high importance was dedicated to Butrint even from the Roman Empire. After Butrint you will get transferred to Saranda for short sightseeing and dinner with overnight.

Day 6: Porto Palermo – Llogara – Vlora – Berat

This morning, after meeting your driver/guide in the hotel lobby you will depart North for Porto Palermo following the road of the “Albanian South Riviera”. Leaving Saranda behind, you will drive along the sea passing a few touristic villages along the way. You will have a stop at Porto Palermo, at the Castle of Ali Pasha Tepelena. After that, you will depart towards Llogara National Park for lunch time. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Ardenica Monastery and proceeding versus Berat for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Berat all day

This morning after breakfast you will start with the visit of Berat. With an ancient history from 2400 years ago, Berat is located along the stream of river Osum and in the middle of the great mountains of Tomorr and Shpirag. It is a part of UNESCO World Heritage List with the well preserved houses of original Ottoman architecture. You will visit the fortress or the Onufri Museum and after lunch, you will have free time on your own leisure before dinner and then overnight in Berat.

Day 8: Elbasan – Kruja – Shkoder 

After a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred to Elbasan. You will do a short visit to the Castle Walls and quarter, ruins of the Basilica. After Elbasan, you will drive toward the city of Kruja. After having lunch in Kruja you will visit the old bazaar full of souvenirs and crafts before reaching the castle located on top of a rocky hill. The Scanderbeg Museum will fulfill the history of how people used to live in the 18th century and why Scanderbeg is the National Hero of the Albanians. After Kruja you will get transferred to Fishte. You will stop to Mrizi i Zanave restaurant for a delicious dinner in a unique area. Lastly, you will be transferred to Shkodra for overnight.

Day 9: Shkoder all day

This morning after breakfast you will start the sightseeing of the city. In Shkodra you will visit the Rozafa castle with fantastic views of all the surrounding area as well as the typical Italian-Austrian architecture of the city center. You will also visit the Factory of Venetian Masks and the last stop will be the “Marubi Exhibition (Phototeka)”. You will have some free time for lunch and after that, you will get transferred to Shiroke in Shkodra lake. Shkodra Lake is one of the largest bird reserves in Europe, having 240 bird species inhabiting its shores, including some of the last pelicans in Europe. After Shkodra’s Lake, you will be transferred back for dinner in Shkodra and overnight.

Day 10: Vermosh village in the Albanian Alps

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Albanian Alps with many stops on the way to enjoy the amazing panorama. You will walk around Vermosh to explore its natural beauties and opportunities for soft hiking. You will have free time on your own leisure, to have dinner and overnight in Vermosh.

Day 11: Durres – Tirana

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Durres. In Durres you will have free time for lunch and sightseeing of the city. You will visit the Venetian tower, byzantine walls, city center, ruins of the Roman forum and roman baths and also the Roman Amphitheatre of Durres. After Durres you will get transferred to Tirana for an orientation tour and after the Historical National Museum, you will have free time on your own leisure before dinner with overnight.

Day 12: Tirana – Onward

This morning after breakfast, you will continue with the rest of the sights in Tirana. You will visit the main boulevard, Scanderbeg square, main administrative buildings, presidency, pyramid, and Et’hem Bey mosque. You will also have free time on your own leisure depending on your departure flight. To be advised.
