In this daily excursion, you are going to visit Ardenica and Apollonia starting from the city of Berat.

Firstly, after the transfer from Berat to Ardenica, you are going to visit the Monastery of Ardenica. This monastery is a precious relict monument of Albanian culture.  The Monastery of Ardenica was inherited from a period when Catholicism as a religion and culture was dominant in the country. It is thought that this medieval monastery was established in 1282 by the Byzantine Emperor Andronik II Paleolog. They built the monastery after winning the war against Berat city. The old building is surrounded by other old constructions. These old constructions are thought to have been part of a small city center. It is of huge importance for the history of Albania since it was chosen by the national hero Scanderbeg to hold his matrimonial ceremony on April 21st, 1451.

Coming up next, you will depart towards Apollonia Archeological Park.  Situated in southwestern Albania, about 13 miles from the city of Fier, this city was built by Greek colonizers on the lands of the Taulantii Illyrian tribe. Apollonia, with a strong Illyrian component, is a magical place.  In Apollonia, you will find a nice combination of unique monuments, archaeology, and landscape. All this scenery creates a special atmosphere that difficult to find anywhere in the Mediterranean.
The ancient city of Apollonia is one of the best known and important classical cities in the country. The site is an important destination for cultural tourism and that is the main reason why it has been visited by a very big number of tourists every year.

Later on, you will have free time for lunch in the city of Fieri. Lastly, you will be transferred back to Berat to end the journey.
