Visit of the Capital of Ancient Illyria, Shkodra Shore excursion starting from Durres port.
After meeting with the guide just outside your ship, you will be transferred north for approximately 2 hours drive towards the “Northern Capital” of Albania, Shkodra. This tour introduces you to the age-old city of Shkodra. Shkodra is a metropolis that has a diamond shape nestled between the Alps in Albania.
Your walking tour of the place includes a visit to Rozafa Castle. Rozafa castle was originally an Illyrian fortress until it was captured by the Romans. After that, the Ottomans seized it. You’ll pass on cobbled streets packed with Medieval cottages in the Old Town, before making your way to the city center. There you will get to visit the religious buildings and the beautiful promenade of the city.
Itinerary
After meeting with your guide, you will be transferred on a 2h drive to Shkodra. Your tour includes also visiting Rozafa castle and also learn what the legend says about it. Rozafa castle gives you an amazing panorama of the whole city of Shkodra. Later on you will visit Shkodra’s city center where you will see some of the richest religious buildings and the beautiful promenade of the city. Afterward, you’ll have free time for lunch in Shkodra. The lovely day will finish with the transfer back to the port after lunch.
