Shkodra excursion from Shengjin port.
After meeting with the guide outside your ship, you will be transferred north for an approximately 1-hour drive towards the “Northern Capital” of Albania, Shkodra. This tour introduces you to the city of Shkodra. It a metropolis shaped like a diamond and nestled between the Albanian Alps. Shkodra is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It has passed into the hands of foreign invaders multiple times since its origins. The walking tour includes a visit to the Rozafa Castle, which was originally an Illyrian fortress until it was captured by the Romans and then seized by the Ottomans.
The Rozafa Castle was the most important stronghold of the Illyrian kingdom of Ardians, located up the hill overlooking rivers Buna and Drin and the whole plain fields. After the visit to the castle, you will go down to the city center. Next, you will visit the Italian style promenade, Ebu Beker Mosque, Catholic cathedral, etc. Later on, you will have some free time at your leisure and lunch. The Shkodra excursion from Shengjin program will finish with the transfer back to the port.
Itinerary
After meeting with your guide at 8:00 AM, for about a 1h drive, you will get transferred to the historical city of Shkodra, located in the northern part of Albania. Firstly, you will start a sightseeing tour of the city which includes the visit to the city center, the Catholic Cathedral, and the Ebu Bekr Mosque. Afterward, you will continue with a visit to Rozafa Castle, which is one of the oldest and most important fortresses in Albania. Next, you will have free time for lunch and leisure around the city. Lastly, you will be transferred back to the port of Shengjin to continue your journey.
