Visit Ksamil

Turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and tiny islands just offshore—Ksamil is Albania’s answer to the Maldives. Located in the far south of the country, near the Greek border and the ancient city of Butrint, Ksamil has become one of the most beloved summer destinations in the Balkans. And it’s easy to see why.

Why Ksamil is a Dream Destination

  1. Crystal-Clear Waters and Stunning Beaches
The sea in Ksamil is unreal—shimmering shades of blue and green. The beaches are small but gorgeous, with soft white sand and calm, swimmable water.
  2. Swim or Boat to the Ksamil Islands
Just a few hundred meters offshore lie the Ksamil Islands, perfect for swimming, kayaking, or taking a small boat trip. Some islands even have little beach bars during the high season.
  3. Delicious Southern Albanian Cuisine
Seafood in Ksamil is as fresh as it gets. Grilled octopus, mussels, and the famous shrimp pasta are must-tries, all served with views of the sea or nearby Corfu.
  4. Close to Butrint National Park
A UNESCO World Heritage Site just 5 minutes away, Butrint is an ancient city filled with ruins, mythology, and archaeological wonders. You get beach and culture all in one place.

How to Get There
Ksamil is about 15 km south of Saranda and easily reachable by car, taxi, or bus. If you’re coming from Corfu, you can take a ferry to Saranda and continue to Ksamil from there.

Best Time to Visit
June and September offer the best balance of warm weather and manageable crowds. July and August are the peak season—beautiful but busier.

Travel Tips
✔ Book accommodation early in summer—it fills up fast.
✔ Bring water shoes—the beaches are sometimes pebbly.
✔ Visit the islands early in the day for more privacy.
