Gjirokaster “City of Stone”, a UNESCO World Heritage site in southern Albania’s mountains, tells a story about the country’s past. It has beautiful buildings and an old charm that visitors love.

When you get close to Gjirokaster it’s like going back in time to a medieval place. The city has stone houses against big mountains, giving it the name ‘City of Stone.’

The old town in Gjirokaster is well-kept and has old-style houses from the Ottoman times. Walking around makes you feel like you’re in another time. The big Gjirokaster Castle watches over the city.

You can learn about Albanian history in the Gjirokaster Ethnographic Museum. It has old clothes, household items, and artisan crafts, and shows how people used to live.

  • 08:00 – 13:00 Transfer from Golem to Gjirokaster, where there will be a 20-minute break
  • 13:00 – 14:00 Free time at your leisure to visit the old bazaar of Gjirokastra or to consume lunch

  • 14:00 – 15:00 Visit Castle of Gjirokaster

Gjirokastër Castle, situated on a hill, charms tourists with its medieval architecture and stunning views of the UNESCO-listed city. The Castle “Argjiro” of Gjirokastra, a fortress in Gjirokastër. The castle is situated at a height of 336 meters. It dominates the town and overlooks the strategically important route along the river valley offering spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains.

  • 16:00 – 21:00 Transfer back to Golem
